Blogger of the Week - Term 4 Week 9

What an amazing year of blogging we have had. There have been so many engaging blog posts that have taught me lots about a range of different subjects.

Our last Blogger of the Week is Makeleta from Hay Park. I love the way Makeleta engages her readers and asks them questions in her blog posts.

Blogger of the Week - Term 4 Week 8

Franny from Owairaka District School has been knocking on the Blogger of the Week door (not a real door - it's just a saying) all year. She's published four posts this week and it's only Thursday! And remember, it's not just about how many blog posts you publish. If you look at Franny's posts she has a great mixture of text, pictures, slide decks and music. Ka pai Franny, enjoy being Blogger of the Week.

Blogger of the Week - Term 4 Week 7

Our Blogger of the Week is Chantz for Waikowhai Primary. Chantz is a Year 3 student and has only been blogging for about a term. You can see from his last few posts that he has already learnt how to include images and labels and I like the way he explains what he has learnt in a way that teaches others.

Ka pai Chantz, keep up the great work!

Blogger of the Week - Term 4 Week 1

Kia ora,

Our first Blogger of the Week for Term 4 goes to Titan from Owairaka. To be honest this also has a lot to do with the fact that Titan completed the Holiday Blogging Programme (in one day I think!)

What's really impressed me about Titan's blog posts is the way he uses SiSoMo (sight, sound and motion). Check out his programming game where he has included a backing track, a video of him playing the game and captions for the audience to read.

Keep up the great work Titan!

Blogger of the Week - Term 3 Week 9

This week I've picked two bloggers who have shared their experiences of Te Wiki o te Reo Māori and Uike Kātoanga’i ‘o e Lea Faka-Tonga.

There was an incredible amount of quality blog posts this week but these two stood out because I really got a sense of the authors' personalities from the way they described their learning. I'm also enjoying seeing different modes of text come though on blog posts.

Keep up the great work everyone!

Blogger of the Week - Term 3 Week 8

This week Mapa from May Road is our Blogger of the Week. I really enjoyed her post on Tongan Language Week. I was especially impressed with the way she explained her challenges and the way her personality shone through in her description of the learning.

I think some well deserved positive, thoughtful and helpful comments are in order...

Blogger of the Week - Term 3 Week 7

Blogger of the Week - Term 3 Week 6

I spent a while trying to decide between two blogs this week. Then I thought why not just have two bloggers of the week! So Manu will be visiting two blogs this week...

I'm so impressed with the number of posts from Maddison this week. I particularly enjoyed her necklace slides where she used a combination of text, photographs and other images to teach her readers how to create some amazing jewellery.

Minerva's titles hooked me in and made me want to read his blog posts. I also like how his blog posts this week have been related and show that he is passionate about protecting our precious water.

Please leave these amazing learners some positive, thoughtful and helpful comments.

Poetry Slam - Potential Professional Poets

Last week we had our first ever Ako Hiko poetry slam. We had around 30 entries and while I don't want to pick any winners, I thought I'd share some of the poems here. The highlights for me were seeing students work their way through the resources to have a go at new forms of poems independently and seeing students commenting on each other's poems. This included across school commenting and some comments from Kaitaia!

Thank you to all the teachers who supported their students. I think it is so important to keep providing new opportunities like this for our learners. And what an amazing way to get creative! The slide deck will stay on the Ako Hiko site over the holidays if you still want to have a go.

Poetry Slam!

To celebrate the end of Term 2 let's get creative and write some poems. Have a look at these slides for the instructions and some inspiration...

Blogger of the Week

Kia ora everyone!

Well done to all those who attended Student Toolkits online last week. I've been reading all your blog posts and it sounds like you've all learnt heaps of new skills!

I really like Daniel's WordCloud art. I've decided to use it (with his permission) to celebrate a 'Blogger of the Week!'

Every week I'll pick a quality blog post from an Ako Hiko blogger and that person will be the 'Blogger of the Week.'

BUT! I won't announce the blogger of the week, instead I will hide Daniel's Ako Hiko manu (bird) in a comment on that blog. First person to see the manu will get a shout out on this blog along with the 'Blogger of the Week!'
